Majalah PC Media Edisi 02/2009 telah hadir, dan seperti biasa pada edisi membawa versi terbaru PC Media Antivirus (PCMAV) yaitu PCMAV 1.92. Sebelum masuk bahasan versi terbaru ini, terkait tidak tersedianya fasilitas download PCMAV 2.0 Valkyrie Alpha 2 pada tulisan sebelumnya, saya mohon maaf sekali lagi dan ini saya lakukan semata-mata untuk menjaga amanah berdasarkan pesan yang saya terima dari PC Media. Beberapa komentar dan email yang masuk menyatakan kekecewaannya bahkan beberapa diantaranya berisi umpatan, dan saya tetap pada pendirian saya, berusaha menjaga pesan atau amanah dengan baik. Mohon dimengerti keputusan saya ini.

Kembali ke rilis PCMAV 1.92, berdasarkan file README.txt yang disertakan, hal-hal yang baru pada versi terbaru ini adalah:

• Ditambahkan, database pengenal dan pembersih 48 virus lokal/asing/varian baru yang dilaporkan menyebar di Indonesia. Total 2493 virus beserta variannya yang banyak beredar di Indonesia telah dikenal di versi 1.92 ini oleh engine internal PCMAV.
• Diperbarui, cleaner khusus yang dapat mengatasi varian baru virus Windx-Maxtrox yang dapat menginfeksi file executable.
• Diperbarui, rutin yang bertugas dalam melakukan pencarian file.
• Diperbaiki, rutin pembasmian untuk virus yang terdeteksi oleh engine ClamAV statusnya menjadi "Deleted" dan bukan "Cleaned".
• Ditambahkan, pesan konfirmasi saat hendak menghapus virus yang dideteksi oleh engine ClamAV yang kemungkinan telah menginfeksi dokumen office seperti DOC & XLS.
• Ditambahkan, engine heuristic yang dapat mendeteksi varian baru yang banyak menyebar.
• Diperbaiki, kesalahan deteksi (false alarm) heuristik pada beberapa program dan script.
• Diperbarui, perubahan beberapa nama virus mengikuti varian baru yang ditemukan.
• Perbaikan beberapa minor bug dan improvisasi kode internal untuk memastikan bahwa PCMAV Cleaner & PCMAV RealTime Protector lebih dari sekadar antivirus biasa.
